ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS SEES SLOWER GROWTH

July 17, 1992

The growth of the environmental industry is slowing, according to the Environmental Business Journal, published in San Diego. The industry, ranging from air-pollution control equipment to management of solid and hazardous wastes, had revenues of $119 billion in 1991, but grew only 2 percent, versus 10 percent in 1990 and 15 percent in 1989. "As the economy rebounds ... growth is expected to average 7 percent per year over the next five years," the journal predicts.
