AMERICANS WORRY ABOUT NOT SAVING

April 7, 1992

Americans worry more about saving for the future than about job security or having enough money to live on, according to survey by Yankelovich Clancy Shulman for START Inc.

Of the 1,200 Americans (between the ages of 20 to 49) surveyed, 71 percent said they are worried about saving for the future. But nearly 72 percent said they are still not saving as much as they should. And one-half of them indicated that they would rather spend on things they enjoy and need now than save more money.
