January 10, 1992

Last year, white was the color of choice for all classes of vehicles in North America, according to an annual survey of vehicle color popularity by the Du Pont Company's automotive division.

An average of 22 percent of consumers chose white for luxury cars, full/intermediate-size cars, sport/compact cars, and light trucks/vans. Red, the No. 2 color of preference, accounted for 19 percent of sport/compact car sales last year. Other colors that continue to retain a high level of motorist popularity are blue, black, and silver.
