Contesting rape statistics

I must object to the reporting of the Smith rape trial. The author uncritically repeats highly suspect figures commonly asserted about rape by feminist activists. One of them is that "according to FBI statistics, 1 in 4 women can expect to be raped." The truth of such reports cannot be measured by social science methods.K. Skupnick, Wellesley, Mass.
