IRAQ TO BOYCOTT ISLAMIC SUMMIT

Iraq, accusing Saudi Arabia and other Muslim states of acting as United States agents, said Wednesday it would boycott an Islamic summit in Senegal Dec. 9."Saudi Arabia [and] a group of its mercenary agents ... are setting the stage for the meeting to endorse dubious American policies against Iraq," an Iraqi spokesman, quoted by the national news agency INA, said. He said Iraq's move to boycott the summit was to "protest against this shameful behavior which violated the rules and tradition of activity in the organization and contradicted the brotherly Islamic spirit and solidarity." The summit, the sixth since the 46-member organization was established in 1969, would be preceded by a meeting of foreign ministers in Dakar Dec. 5.
