US-JAPAN TRADE REVISITED

The American share of the Japanese market is larger than the Japanese share of the United States market, according to a report by the Whalen Company Inc. Japanese imports from the US amount to 1.7 percent of Japan's gross national product, while US imports from Japan amount to 1.6 percent of US GNP.Japan bought more US goods per person in 1990 ($395 worth), than Americans bought from Japan ($359 worth), the public affairs consulting firm says, citing the US Department of Commerce.
