EAST ASIA WILL SHARE IN KUWAIT'S REBUILDING

March 7, 1991

East Asia is hoping to gain a share of lucrative reconstruction projects in Kuwait. A Labor Department official in Bangkok told the Journal of Commerce that the Kuwaiti government had asked Thailand to send its 8,000 workers to help in rebuilding.

A team from Manila's Department of Labor is packing for a trip to Kuwait ``as soon as the dust settles,'' an Filipino official told the publication.

Meanwhile, officials of South Korean construction companies said Tuesday that they are seeking reconstruction projects in Kuwait and some in Saudi Arabia, but have not paid attention to Iraq for the moment for political and economic reasons.
