PLASTICS USE LITTLE ENERGY

Only 3 percent of United States energy consumption in 1988 was used in producing plastics, according to a study by the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. The study shows that less than 2 percent of all petroleum consumption and 7 percent of natural gas consumption were used in plastic production.
