Nearly 1.1 million United States homes now have fax machines for transmitting documents, primarily for business purposes, according to Home Office Computing. The magazine says 34.3 million Americans work at home, up 29 percent since 1989. This number includes self-employed workers, moonlighters, and those who bring office-work home.
