Unlike the Rose

April 2, 1990

With love we cannot take too much for granted. Love is the greatest thing, it has been said. Once the rose of love has been implanted We need to tend it daily, keep it fed, Appreciate its beauty, praise its strength Encourage it with tangible affection, Remind it that unlike the rose, its length Is life-long, and its goal perfection. ``Love alters not,'' the world's great poet wrote. No petal, not a single leaf should fall. Take care, take care - of loving please take note. Nourish the ultimate, the highest good, the all. A passive love will wilt and fade away. Love needs our action if it means to stay.
