ORDERS SURGE FOR US AIRCRAFT

WASHINGTON
Orders for US commercial transport aircraft in 1989 rose 20 percent to a record $15.1 billion, the Aerospace Industries Association says. The backlog of unfilled orders reached $89.1 billion, up 52 percent.
