PCs WILL TAKE VOICE COMMANDS, EXPERT SAYS

December 7, 1989

The personal computer of the future will take voice commands. That's the prediction of John Diebold, chairman, the Diebold Group Inc. He also says that by the year 2000, PC displays may not be in a separate box but will instead be built into office furniture, on walls, and in briefcases.

PCs, he adds, will also offer three dimensional graphics, high definition TV-like screens, a combination of text, audio, video, graphics, and pictures, full voice recognition, natural language comprehension, language translation capabilities, the processing power of today's supercomputers, touch screens, light pens, and so on.

They will cost about $3,000 fully equipped, Mr. Diebold reckons.
