SNACK INDUSTRY SEES GROWTH AHEAD

The $30 billion snack food industry continues to grow. The department of commerce estimates it will have total sales of $47 billion by 1998. Currently, sales of salted snack foods - 19 percent of total industry revenues - outpace all other market segments. Microwavable popcorn has fuelled much of this market's growth.
