The Twilight Time

October 19, 1989

Out of the dusk there comes a twilight song Nostalgia murmuring its old refrain Dusk disinforming us with threats to bring Ruin before the resurrecting sun. Dusk is the testing time. If we can hold Our peace against the faltering, failing light If we can face the twilight time alone And give no inch to panic - never let Confusion overtake us in the dusk - We're safe; and nothing that the night can do Will have effect. We'll brave it through the dark Putting our confidence in promised day. Then out of the tentative, foreboding dusk No trembling twilight song will trouble us.
