RISE AND FALL OF HURRICANE JERRY

October 17, 1989

Hurricane Jerry lost steam and was downgraded to a tropical storm Sunday night after slamming the Texas coast with tornadoes and winds of up to 100 m.p.h., damaging buildings, and killing at least two people. Two people were reported killed when their car was swept over the 15-foot seawall by crashing waves at the height of the storm.
