October 16, 1989

More than 180 people were arrested Saturday at anti-abortion demonstrations in front of clinics in Chicago and Boston, authorities said. Abortion rights activists also rallied in Evanston, Ill. Of about 200 protesters who turned out in Chicago, 116 were charged with mob action and resisting arrest for blocking the clinic, said police Commander James Hollandsworth.

In Boston, 68 anti-abortion demonstrators were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, and another was charged with assault and battery on an officer, police said.
