The White Mountain

Sinking a Stone Into the Waves

September 19, 1989

Thinking of happiness, the light of the spirit comes down over your frozen being setting it free. Your blood chases the shadows away and the distance from the truth grows shorter. An angel touches your shoulder. You are the White Mountain from which the divine spring breaks loose and pours over the world the light of love. The poems on this page were translated by the poet's daughter, Catalina, except for `In the Depths' which was translated by Christiana Bajenaru. They were originally published in Romanian in a book titled 'In Nobody's Shadow,' by the Liberty Publishing House in New York.
