SUPERMARKET FLOWER SALES BLOOMING

September 5, 1989

For supermarkets, floral products are a flowering business. Supermarket Floral, in this month's issue, reports that supermarkets sell between $1.4 billion and $1.6 billion in floral products, or about 15 percent of all such sales in the United States. Last year, supermarkets sold an average of $2,177 of floral products per store a week, compared to only $535 weekly in 1979. Floral sales provide high profit margins of 30 to 50 percent.
