Old Place

Trading Place and Time

August 29, 1989

Old Place Who lived here long ago did well by this place. See how tall and thick the lilacs grow, and other bushes - like a wall. Someone who must be quite old now showed those vines how to climb, directed tree on tree into a row. See how strong the barns set down foundations, like stout roots. Even song is stable, as though birds have known about this place for decades and have scattered cheer upon a house that - in its day - fostered many children who liked to hear such constant music, before they went away.
