BRITISH CONSERVATIONIST GEORGE ADAMSON

August 22, 1989

British conservationist George Adamson, found dead at his remote homestead in eastern Kenya, may have been killed by poachers, the British High Commission said Monday. Mr. Adamson, in his 80s, was formerly married to Joy Adamson, who won international fame through her books ``Born Free'' and ``Living Free'' describing their success in returning captured lions to the wild. Joy Adamson was murdered by a domestic staff member in 1980.
