THREE PHONE STRIKES END

August 21, 1989

Pacific Telesis Group and the Communications Workers of America said they had reached a tentative contract agreement Sunday to end a strike by 42,000 workers in California and Nevada. Workers at Bell of Pennsylvania reached agreement with electrical workers late Saturday, and Bell Atlantic Corporation reached agreement last Thursday, but local issues must be settled before the employees return to work. About 95,000 workers of NYNEX Corporation and Ameritech Corporation were still on strike.
