QUAKE RATTLES SAN FRANCISCO

A sharp earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay area for 10 seconds on Aug. 8, breaking glass, and causing rock slides, authorities said. The quake, measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1:13 a.m. and was centered on the San Andreas Fault 13 miles south of San Jose, the US Geological Survey said. No major damage was reported. One quake-related fatality was reported.
