ARGENTINA FREEZES PRICES

July 20, 1989

Argentina's new Peronist government, in a bid to halt 200 percent-a-month inflation, has signed a pact with businessmen freezing prices for 90 days. But a powerful trade union says it will continue to fight for wage hikes. Economy Minister Nestor Rapanelli and about 300 leading businessmen agreed Monday to keep prices at their July 15 level after some prices more than doubled in the last week alone.
