PALESTINIANS MARK ANNIVERSARY

July 10, 1989

Palestinians in the occupied territories staged a general strike yesterday to mark the start of the 20th month of the intifadah (uprising). In East Jerusalem and the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestinians closed stores, halted public transportation, and stayed away from jobs in Israel.

On Saturday in revenge for a Palestinian attack on an Israeli bus Thursday in which 14 people were killed, Jews attacked Arabs in several parts of Israel and the territories.
