NUCLEAR EXPERTS UNITE TO PREVENT FUTURE ACCIDENTS

May 17, 1989

Leading nuclear power operators have formed a worldwide organization to help prevent nuclear accidents and improve their industry's public image. One hundred and fifty authorities operating nuclear plants in 31 countries gathered in Moscow Monday to sign the charter of the World Association of Nuclear Operators.

The association aims to speed up information exchanges on design and operation of nuclear reactors, provide a database for joint use by utilities, and encourage direct contacts between staff of power plants.
