VOTING TODAY FOR WYOMING HOUSE SEAT

April 26, 1989

Republican Craig Thomas, who claims he's the rightful heir to former Congressman Dick Cheney, has built momentum in the final days of his race against Democrat John Vinich for Wyoming's lone House seat. Today voters will select a successor to Mr. Cheney, who resigned to become defense secretary. Officials of both campaigns say their polls show Mr. Thomas has pulled even or slightly ahead of Mr. Vinich.

Vinich entered the race with better name recognition. The state senator fell just short of upsetting Republican Sen. Malcolm Wallop last fall.
