BRAZIL RAISES PAY FOR ALL WORKERS

The Brazilian government last week authorized a 15.88 percent pay raise for all workers, three months after it froze prices and wages indefinitely. The increase fell far short of demands by trade unions which are seeking a 49 percent rise.

The government of President Jos'e Sarney introduced its so-called ``Summer Plan'' to try to prevent hyperinflation. Prices rose 934 percent last year.
