DEFENSE CHIEF SAYS STAR WARS FUNDS MAY BE PARED BACK

Defense Secretary Dick Cheney said Tuesday the value of the ``Star Wars'' antimissile defense concept had been oversold during the Reagan administration, but the program had great potential. At the same time, he said funding for the program may have to be cut to reduce the federal budget deficit.
