Family Outing

Nantasket Beach, Massachusetts A cold wind burns our pink resemblances and fresh concerns, but timeless dances

hold us: wave on wave of Atlantic, cloud on cloud! We brave the cold and grow proud

of the little kite we've come to fly at a certain height between sea and sky.

It blows our gaze and words away, rising, falling. We amaze each other today:

that body, bright and bent on the air, from the edge of this numb continent, renews our pledge.
