US WARNINGS TO AIRLINES MAY BE INACCURATE, SAYS REPORT

A congressional committee report, prompted by the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, says government warnings to airlines were sometimes ``dangerously inaccurate.'' Rep. Cardiss Collins (D) of Illinois said Federal Aviation Administration bulletins issued in 1988 and early this year were ``sometimes untimely, sometimes dangerously inaccurate, and almost always devoid of effective and specific instructions for countering possible threats.'' The report was issued by the House Activities and Transportation Subcommittee.
