Start a family tradition - a rhinestone gift-book

December 2, 1988

I used to spend hours entranced by a wonderful set of old Compton Encyclopedias that my dad read when he was a kid. I may not have been too familiar with all of the subjects, but it was good reading and they were arranged in a captivating way, with great pictures and illustrations! That is the way I feel about this new coffee table-type book ``Country, The Music and the Musicians,'' which has to be the definitive book on country music. So if it strikes your fancy and you get the chance, set a spell and look at those posters, those old buses, those rhinestones - those outfits! Seems as if everyone was related to each other or sang together at one time or another - like Dolly and Porter, Tammy and George, and the new superstars are all there, too. Just ask Hank Williams Jr. - ``It's a family tradition.''
