Letter of (urgent) recommendation

August 8, 1988

To the director of the next space shuttle, on behalf of my son Dear Sir: These times stir fresh fires of ambition and here is one abounding boy wishing to orbit the earth or circle the moon. Soon! His desires press immediacy, and if not tomorrow, then in June, please, when kindergarten is over. Gravitationless glory seems common, everyday-logical to this astrohappy rover, this rocket-thoughted lad, this in-his-own-skyey-eyes Man of Flight.

In all honesty, however, I must add ...

about this applicant-hero, this brother to stars and lover of far sweeps of flotational outer space: he might like a little nightlight out there to shine upon his home-reflecting face.
