Nothing like a river

May 6, 1987

The river comes from somewhere, goes somewhere, flows past adventuresome houses on brinks, makes cities pause, takes boats far out along banks, is strong support for reflections of sky, clouds and trees, lifts high the gull's cry, lets the wind be wild and free to make waves ripple and help them hit the shore. A river is partner to men and their endeavors. It challenges the mind, makes the heart quiver. There is nothing like a river.
