New US party planned

The chief of Civilian Materiel Assistance, which supports the Nicaraguan contras, says his group plans to form a new patriotic national political party. It will tentatively be called the Civilian Freedom Party, CMA founder Tom Posey said Tuesday after a meeting with about a dozen other members of the organization. ``For the past 20 years, I've seen politicians lie to freedom fighters and put them out on a limb and then cut them off, like the Bay of Pigs,'' Mr. Posey said. ``The average American doesn't like this, and the only way he has to express himself is ... at the ballot box.''

Although a political platform has not been developed for the new party, Posey said it would be ``so pro-American and patriotic that it's going to be hard for anyone to vote against us.''
