Impressionist paintings to make US tour

October 22, 1985

A prized array of 19th century art work from France's Orsay Museum will make a tour of the United States next year. About 140 Impressionist paintings, photos, drawings, etchings, and sculpture, half of which have never before been displayed in the United States, will go on show at the Dallas Museum of Art in March and April.

From May through July, the exhibition will be at New York's Brooklyn Museum.

The items on the American tour will include one of the Orsay's most prized new acquisitions: Claude Monet's ``La Pie,'' as well as the reproduction of the Statue of Liberty currently installed in the Luxembourg gardens.

Also in the exhibition are works by Impressionist masters Paul C'ezanne, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, and Pierre Bonnard.
