Denmark wins battle of the mails

September 9, 1985

A survey of postal services in eight European countries has shown Denmark to have the fastest letter delivery and Italy the slowest, according to a survey organized by a West German consumer group. Ninety-five percent of 194 letters posted in Denmark during a week in March reached their destination the next day. Norway came in second with 82.5 percent, Britain third with 79 percent, then West Germany (77), the Netherlands (71.2), France (67.8), and Austria (55.5).

Italy, however, did not fare so well. Not one of the letters arrived the next day and only one in five were delivered within three days.
