Letter from Catherine

August 19, 1985

``The pink paper's for joy,'' she said, as she wrote me of the Jagst River which runs into the Necker which runs past Heidelberg. And of a quaint little town named Jagstheim on the edge of the river. I follow the river lines, I visit the town -- my mind takes in the scene, the atmosphere . . . But comes back to the joy. ``I try to squeeze as much joy as I can from everything,'' she wrote. And sent it here.
