Soviet official leaves China after signing economic pacts

Soviet First Deputy Premier Ivan Arkhipov left China Saturday after signing economic agreements that include pledges to build new industries and upgrade those built by the Soviets in the 1950s.

The two sides also agreed to expand bilateral trade by about 28 percent in 1985. Volume will rise from $1.4 billion to $1.79 billion.
