From Great Wall to Canton, American finishes a long run

Stan Cottrell of Tucker, Ga., completed a 2,108-mile run through China Monday as part of what he called a personal campaign to promote long-distance running and international friendship. He began the run Oct. 10 from the Great Wall northwest of Peking, taking a zigzag route through several provinces.

China Sports Services, a state-run organization that handles athletic events, sponsored the trek.

Mr. Cottrell is the second foreigner to undertake a long-distance run through China. David Griffiths of Britain jogged 1,736 miles from Peking to Hong Kong last year.
