Freed Polish dissident says he will seek political role

Bogdan Lis, a leader in the outlawed Solidarity trade union, said Sunday he wanted a political role in Poland's future and would resume contacts with other leaders of the banned free trade union Solidarity. Mr. Lis and a fellow Solidarity member, Piotr Mierzewski, were released from prison Saturday and driven to their homes in Gdansk after the chief military prosecutor dropped treason charges against them.

Lis was the most important union activist that had been kept in Warasw's Rakowiecka Prison after the general amnesty last July that freed 630 political prisoners and thousands of criminals.
