Japanese trade minister asked to suspend auto export curbs

Japanese auto industry leaders told Japan's newly appointed international trade and industry minister that their nation should not extend its ''voluntary'' restraints on car exports to the United States after the current agreement expires next March. The group made a courtesy call Wednesday on Keijiro Murata, who was named trade minister when Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone shuffled his Cabinet a month ago.
