US invites on Oceanic leader for a visit to strengthen ties

President Reagan has invited Prime Minister Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara of Fiji to the White House in a show of US support for the islands of Oceania. Sir Kamisese , the first Oceanic leader to pay an official visit to Washington, was prepared to present top US officials with requests for aid, commercial landing rights, increased sugar imports, and help in halting nuclear testing in the South Pacific during talks this week.
