West German's amity visit to Poland is on for today

West German Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher is expected to leave for Poland today. The foreign minister had postponed the three-day visit, which was due to start Wednesday.

Among the reasons for postponement, a Foreign Office spokesman cited the refusal of Polish authorities to grant a visa to a West German journalist to accompany Mr. Genscher and remarks by Polish spokesman Jerzy Urban indicating the Warsaw government would be displeased if Genscher tried to visit the grave of the Rev. Jerzy Popieluszko, the pro-Solidarity Roman Catholic priest murdered by security policemen last month.

A spokesman said the trip had been arranged to aid understanding, conciliation, and normalization of relations between West Germany and Poland.
