Thatcher, FitzGerald extend their talks to early next year

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her Irish counterpart, Garret FitzGerald , ended a two-day summit on Northern Ireland with no specific agreement except to meet again early next year.

Mrs. Thatcher said the discussions Sunday and Monday were the ''fullest, frankest, and most realistic ever.'' Irish opposition leader Charles Haughey described the outcome as ''tragically disappointing'' and said ''nothing of any substance'' had emerged from the talks.
