Some progress seen in session on Israeli exit from LebanonUS-Soviet rivalry is key cause of unrest, Chinese leader says

Chinese Premier Zhao Ziyang said Monday the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the ''root cause'' of world unrest and ruled out an alliance with either superpower. Mr. Zhao told visiting Norwegian Prime Minister Kaare Willoch that the international community should ''exert pressure on the two superpowers to sit down and reach agreement'' on nuclear disarmament and other issues.
