OAS conference ends showing support for Contadora efforts

The Organization of American States ended its 14th annual general assembly Saturday night by approving a resolution backing the efforts of the Contadora group to find a peaceful solution to conflicts in Central America.

The conference focused on subjects ranging from drug trafficking to territorial disputes; but conflicts in Central American and Latin America's staggering $350 billion foreign debt received the most attention.

A seminar on street children conducted here during the conference issued a report Friday urging Latin American governments to help the 40 million abandoned children who roam the region's cities in poverty and misery.
