Jury awards Miss Redgrave $100,000 in symphony suit

A federal jury in Boston ruled Friday that the Boston Symphony Orchestra violated a contract with actress Vanessa Redgrave when it canceled a series of concerts she was to narrate. The jury awarded her the performance fee of $27,500 , as well as $100,000 in damages, saying the cancellation harmed her career.

But the jury rejected Miss Redgrave's claim that the BSO violated her civil rights in canceling the concerts because of her political views and support for the Palestine Liberation Organization.
