Morocco threatens to quit OAU if rebels take seat

Morocco threatened yesterday to quit the Organization of African Unity (OAU) if the Polisario Front, fighting the Moroccan government for control of the Western Sahara, is granted a seat at the organization's summit meeting, OAU officials said.

The Polisario, which has fought for the independence of the former Spanish colony since 1976, appears likely to take a seat at the OAU summit, which opened here yesterday, Reuters reports.
