Squirrel on an oak limb

November 6, 1984

Acorn-replete, relaxed in full contentment with dreamy knowledge of deposits made against the cold (enough that some, forgotten, will make no difference in days ahead), you take your ease - a banker on vacation - stockbroker resting high on shares of oak - a realtor who's moved a line of condos - successful author with completed book - Or even I, with four new poem transcripts and lines for yet another in my mind, turning the matter over, knowing music and words to be the acorns I shall find ... So, friend, though not without some parallel: I greet your squirrelness, and I wish you well.
