W. Germans, Swiss protest US policy in Central America

Thousands of people demonstrated in the capitals of West Germany and Switzerland Saturday against the United States policy in Central America on the eve of elections in Nicaragua.

About 35,000 people marched through Bonn calling for peace and self-determination in the region, according to the organizing group. Speakers, including former West German Chancellor Willy Brandt, strongly criticized US intervention there. About 2,000 took part in a similar protest outside the Us embassy in Bern.
